OTHELLO - Sheffield Crucible

Directed by Daniel Evans
Designed by Morgan Large
Lighting Design by Lucy Carter
Sound Design/Composition by Alex Baranowski
Starring: Dominic West and Clarke Peters

Morgan Large's lean and uncluttered set allows huge space for the cast to work and the exquisite costumes only serve to further illuminate the actors wearing them - Daniel Mayers, WhatsOnStage

As with other Crucible productions, the look of Othello does not disappoint. Designer Morgan Large's set and costumes are beautiful, and Lucy Carter is to be commended for the wonderful lighting design, which really helps set the different scenes and aids the emotion of the play throughout.  - Ruth Deller, BroadwayWorld

In Morgan Large's striking design, it unfolds fluently on the thrust stage which has become an octagonal, geometrically tiled piazza, with the characters emerging through the double doors of a monumental city wall. - Paul Taylor, Independant

Daniel Evans is particularly well served by his designers, with Morgan Large providing an imposing stone-covered piazza on an octagonal stage that has the facade of a building behind it, and Lucy Carter’s lighting. Mark Shenton, The Stage.

Alia Jones and Anthony Lacavera
Directed by Debbie Allen

"Morgan Large’s elegant louvered set" - Henry Hitchings, Evening Standard

"Morgan Large's handsome slatted set makes Brick's bedroom resemble something akin to a cage, a space ripe for eavesdropping. And since the walls are permeable, nothing stays secret for long." - Natasha Tripney, Theatremania

"The action has been updated to the 1980s and takes place in a luxurious bedroom complete with four-poster bed. This is created in a characteristically American style by scenic designer Morgan Large" - Phillip Fisher, British Theatre Guide.

"All of the the ensemble cast are likeable, but it’s the design of this production that really impresses. Designer Morgan Large and puppet-builder Yvonne Stone construct a magically detailed world of the imagination – a forest hewn from broom sticks, for instance." - Beth Friend
